MY VOLUNTEERING PROJECT

As an ECS volunteer, I joined the Sundhed og Omsorg (Health & Care) department in the municipality of Aarhus. Together with Maria, an other volunteer from Portugal, we've been participating in different projects related to volunteering, aiming at facilitating the social integration of internationals.

Through this experience, we got the opportunity to join a wonderful and welcoming team, discover a new work's organization - somehow so different from the French one - and developed more competences thanks to our different missions.

First thing first, during the first month in Denmark, I joined the team responsible for the Folkets Møde festival. There, we worked mainly on the communication strategy - social media, website, interviews, vox pop, contact with partners - to reach both nationals and internationals.

Directly translated to People’s meeting, the Folkets Møde festival aims at creating a friendly and inclusive community that everyone can be a part of. This event aspires to celebrate, debate, call attention to all the communities making a difference while opening the door for more people to join.

STUDY REGARDING THE INTEGRATION OF INTERNATIONAL

Our 'long term mission' here in Denmark, was to work on an investigation report aiming at giving recommendation for the municipality to get to the next level of welcoming internationals thanks to volunteering.

In order to establish several recommendations, we got the opportunity to meet with some of the many entities working with internationals and even others internationals living in Aarhus.
Being internationals living in Aarhus ourselves, it was very interesting to be confronted with various experiences regarding social integration in the city.
